 The Metropolitan Deira Hotel is an upscale 4 stars hotel, in the busy district of Deira, across the Dubai Creek from Burdubai , World Trade Center and Sheikh Zayed road.

The Metropolitan Deira previously Royalton Plaza has 136 nicely furnished deluxe rooms and suites.The rooms feature modern decor in attractive colours. Standard rooms are small but adequate. Every room is equipped with a fax machine, satellite television, paid internet access

 
To be honest, the hotel is nice, and the service is good.

There is also a gym, a decent outdoor pool, and several restaurants.

The restaurants include:

·        Al Riqa - Contemporary light wood furniture and floors complement crisp white linen-topped tables in a relaxed setting. Serves international dishes buffet-style or a la carte.

·        Dublin Arms - Decorated in the style of a traditional Irish pub and serving typical British pub food, snacks, and beers including Guinness. Diners can play pool and watch sporting events on the large screen television.

·        Wunder Bar - Fitted with wooden benches, this bar offers a range of German specialties as well as international dishes and chilled lager

Editor's Verdict : Recommended - 7/10 for a Dubai hotel

We loved it because:

• Upscale and nice
• Good location if you are primarily going to Deira or Sharjah only
• Plenty of shopping and food within walking distance
• Modern and clean
• Food quality

Beware of :

• Location can be a problem. Taxis scantly available and expect long delays to get to World Trade Center or Sheikh Zayed Road
• Ambiance : expect the restaurants/night clubs to be filled ‘working girls’ at night, might not be suitable for families or travelers who want quietness
• Can get pretty crowded in peak season
